Project Overview
Springfield Village is a landmark mixed-use development in South West London, combining over 1,200 new-build homes with the refurbishment of a Grade II listed Victorian hospital building. Designed and operated by Hemiko, the district heat network needed to provide reliable heating and hot water across a diverse range of residential, healthcare and supported living buildings, while maintaining long-term efficiency and low carbon performance.
Altecnic’s Contribution
To meet the varied demands of the development, Altecnic supplied a combination of Heat Interface Units (HIUs):
- SATK32 Indirect HIUs – Installed throughout the new-build homes, these units provide instantaneous domestic hot water and space heating, while supporting both radiator and underfloor heating systems with advanced electronic controls.
- SATK22 Direct HIUs – Installed within the refurbished Victorian hospital building, these HIUs feature MODBUS connectivity, enabling remote monitoring, configuration adjustments and faster fault diagnosis through the Building Management System (BMS). Altecnic also provided training, commissioning support and remote firmware updates throughout the project.
Results
The completed installation delivered reliable performance across a complex district heat network:
- 264 SATK32 Indirect HIUs installed across the new-build residential areas.
- 224 SATK22 Direct HIUs installed within the refurbished hospital apartments.
- Reliable heating and hot water delivery across more than 1,200 residential units, two NHS hospital buildings and a care home.
- Improved control of return temperatures to protect network efficiency.
- Enhanced system monitoring through MODBUS connectivity.
- Faster commissioning and fault finding thanks to accessible performance data.
