Protecting Vulnerable People at Dalesdown Residential Conference and Activity Centre

Discover how Altecnic helped improve water safety and hygiene at Dalesdown Residential Conference and Activity Centre by installing and commissioning TMV3-approved thermostatic mixing valves. Our latest case study is now available.

Project Overview

Dalesdown Residential Conference and Activity Centre in Horsham, West Sussex, provides a safe and supportive environment for children, families and other vulnerable groups. After contacting Altecnic for heating system support, our technical team identified an opportunity to improve water safety by installing and servicing Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) across key areas of the site, helping to reduce the risk of scalding and improve water hygiene.

Altecnic’s Contribution

To improve safeguarding throughout the centre, Altecnic supplied and installed:

  • Mixcal Careflo Plus – A WRAS-approved, TMV3 thermostatic mixing valve designed for high-risk healthcare and residential environments. Its thermal override capability allows thermal purging to help reduce the risk of harmful bacteria, including Legionella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
  • Altecnic also fully commissioned each new valve and serviced four existing TMVs, ensuring safe mixed water temperatures and correct failsafe operation throughout the site.

Results

The project delivered immediate improvements to water safety and hygiene:

  • 6 Mixcal Careflo Plus® TMV3 valves installed across washrooms, disabled toilets and kitchen hand wash basins.
  • 4 existing TMVs serviced to improve performance and reliability.
  • Safe outlet water temperatures verified through full commissioning.
  • Thermal purging carried out to help reduce the risk of harmful bacteria within the system.
  • Improved safeguarding for vulnerable visitors and greater confidence in the site’s water safety.
