Altecnic attains International accreditation
The UK’s leading supplier of quality plumbing equipment has achieved the international environmental standard, ISO 14001, for a second year, after passing a rigorous audit with flying colours.
Independent inspectors measured and tested the effectiveness of Altecnic’s environmental management systems, ensuring that the company has identified and controlled its environmental impact, is continually improving and can demonstrate success in reducing its carbon footprint.
In December 2009, Altecnic became one of the first companies in the UK to be officially recognised as carbon-neutral and has successfully reduced its carbon footprint by specifying low energy lighting, reducing heating temperatures and installing timer switches. It has also invested in carbon off-setting projects in New Zealand, Jamaica and Wales.
Managing director Alan Sherwin said: “Altecnic has an outstanding track record for environmental management, and we are committed to maintaining our eco-credentials. I believe that our customers appreciate being able to buy from a carbon-neutral company that has been assessed and certified. Having achieved ISO 14001, we have continued to promote the importance of sustainability at all levels of the business, which is why we did so well in this year’s audit.
“With so many companies relying upon ‘greenwash’ to influence customers, I know that this accreditation is incredibly important. It means that our customers can trust us. As the renewables market grows, we are well placed to offer customers the best products and the most relevant advice, and by focusing on accreditation and quality our customers can be confident they’re getting the best possible product at a competitive price.”
