![]() We at Altecnic, a leading distributor of plumbing and heating components, have made a firm commitment to reduce our carbon footprint and take responsibility over our impact to the environment. We recognise that in conducting our business, we have a negative impact on the environment and are making steps to change this. Climate change is the greatest environmental threat of the 21st Century and we believe all businesses regardless of size should have an appropriate response. In 2006 it was decided that Altecnic would realise its corporate responsibility and begin to integrate an environmental policy to the company. We have made a commitment to make no contribution to climate change through the reduction of our energy use, and by offsetting any carbon emissions that are unavoidable in our business. The CarbonNeutral Company have helped us to measure, reduce and offset our carbon emissions and consequently we achieved CarbonNeutral status in February 2007. Our offset projects include Hendre Ddu Woodland Forest in Snowdonia National Park, energy efficient lighting in Jamaica and a wind farm in Te Apiti, New Zealand. We realise that the little things count too and thus have made energy saving initiatives in the office and the warehouse, such as switching off all monitors at night, putting timers on our electrical equipment and implementing a strict recycling policy. We see these steps as respectable progress in our journey to care for the environment and remain a CarbonNeutral company. We want to identify our biggest impacts on the environment and manage them in order to lessen their negative effect. Our environmental policy will be continually reviewed to ensure we are producing the minimal amount of CO2 and committing ourselves to the most reliable offsetting projects.
