What is CarbonNeutral?

CarbonNeutral is a status awarded to companies who make no contribution to climate change, recognised by the CarbonNeutral Company. It involves a process of identifying a carbon footprint by assessing green gas emissions, finding cost-effective ways of reducing CO2 emissions and subsequently offsetting any remaining, unavoidable emissions.

To deal with the unavoidable emissions caused by operating a company, money can be invested into projects around the world which reduces the amount of CO2, for example forestry projects where trees soak up carbon and emit oxygen, or energy efficient lighting projects. By supporting these projects, we save the equivalent amount of CO2 we produce by operating our business. This means we are not contributing negatively to the environment, and are therefore 'CarbonNeutral'.

What is a Carbon Footprint?

A carbon footprint is a measure of the green house gases produced by human activities. This can be anything from running a multi-national business to driving to work. A carbon footprint is measured in units of carbon dioxide.
